Scheid Scheid Vineyards has chosen MobileFrame’s Inventory Control ApplicationScheid Vineyards has chosen MobileFrame’s Inventory Control Application to track their inventory and crops. Prior to MobileFrame they were doing most of their data entry and inventory tracking manually, and found this system to be timely and inefficient. As Scheid Vineyards continues to grow, they decided that they were in need of more advanced software technology to help streamline their business operations. After researching several software packages, it was obvious that MobileFrame was a perfect fit. With MobileFrame, Scheid Vineyards has been able to automate harvest tracking and fertilization information down to the individual row level, which has achieved significant efficiency gains for the company. Now that Scheid Vineyards has automated the vineyard side of their business, they will be able to streamline their wineries data and inventory on the same platform, thus driving a much higher ROI.

WCB1 Warrnambool Cheese and Butter Factory Creams the Competition with MobileFrame’s Product Inspection AppWarnambool Cheese and Butter Factory (WCB), producers of high-quality dairy products for over 120 years, selected MobileFrame’s Configurable Mobile Application Solution to eliminate all paper based processes across the company.  WCB is one of the oldest dairy processors in Australia today and is a major producer of high quality dairy commodities such as cheese, milk powders, whey protein, butter and cream, for both domestic and export markets.

Prior to purchasing the MobileFrame solution, their staff was using clipboard and paper forms to do quality control inspections on both the production floor and in the warehouse. After the data was collected, the completed forms were turned over to administrative staff to manually enter the data into their business system. This manual system was extremely labor intensive, error-prone and inefficient, so they were looking for an easy to use, intuitive software solution to solve these problems.  WCB quickly realized that MobileFrame’s platform can be used to deploy any app with any requirement across any department. Their apps can be tailored to their business and integrated to their JD Edwards backend system. Some of the benefits of MobileFrame’s solution include:

  • Increase efficiencies by eliminating error-prone manual data-entry tasks
  • Increasing efficiency of product inspection operations
  • Ability to write their own apps without writing  a single line of code Read the rest of this entry »

Sturgeon Services Intl2 Sturgeon Services International is Pumping Out Work Orders with MobileFrameSturgeon Services International (SSI), formerly known as Sturgeon & Sons, has purchased MobileFrame’s work order automation with asset tracking application. SSI is an oil field services company in California, and was looking to automate their work order and asset tracking processes. Prior to implementing MobileFrame’s platform, Sturgeon Services International was completing their work orders in individual Excel spreadsheets per job. The tech would then email the completed spreadsheet to the office. SSI employs 10 clerks who are responsible for verifying the accuracy of the data for payroll and billing purposes. The same clerks had to then manually enter all of that data into Microsoft Dynamics and other backend office systems.  SSI found this process to be very time consuming, costly and prone to human error. With MobileFrame’s solution, not only do those clerks get to avoid all that manual data entry, but the company no longer needs to hire new IT staff to develop and manage applications. During the evaluation phase the SSI team particularly liked the simplicity of integrating our system with their back office systems. Read the rest of this entry »

National Archives National Archives Deploys MobileFrame’s Asset Tracking ApplicationNational Archives (NARA) has selected MobileFrame’s asset tracking application to identify items and their location through barcode scanning. In addition to keeping the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, National Archives also hold in trust for the public the records of citizens including military records, immigration records and much more. Prior to implementing MobileFrame’s platform, National Archives was keeping track of approximately 30 million assets on paper, which would result in several issues, including problems locating those assets when needed, as well as the risk of possibly losing any of those records. National Archives found this process to be inefficient and extremely time consuming. MobileFrame’s 100% Code-Free Platform allows the implementation of these records into National Archives Oracle and Siebel backend systems.

I was chatting with one of our valued partners today, and we got into a very interesting discussion regarding the adoption of field based mobile computing. It appears as if we have both stumbled upon the same problem. The apparent disconnect between automating office based paper processes, and field based paper processes. This discussion really made me think.

“Why don’t businesses value mobile computing like they value office based computing?”

For years companies have been using computers in the office to aid in the functions necessary to run the daily operations of the business.

For Example:

  • Bookkeeping / Accounting
  • AR / AP
  • Payroll
  • E-mail
  • Customer Activity Tracking
  • Sales Performance Tracking
  • Resource Scheduling
  • Creating, assigning, and closing Work Orders
  • Ordering Parts
  • Updating Spreadsheets
  • Etc.

Here at MobileFrame we are pretty good at solving the problem of paper in the field. In this case we had a customer come to us with a very simple yet, annoying problem.

Here’s the current process:

  • Write the Barcode from the asset on a sheet of paper
  • Indicate if it passed or failed inspection
  • If the asset failed, indicate why

Here’s round 2 on creating a mobile application and this time instead of a real time meal order taking application, I’ve created a simple Work Order System that includes a Dispatch app and a handheld app. They were both built using MobileFrame and completed in under 2 hours.
